Nexis Solutions, a division of LexisNexis, is looking for a consulting software engineer to help us transform the way we build and deliver software. This role must provide technical direction and mentorship for other software engineers in the development of next-generation research tools. We are looking for someone who has in-depth technical savvy, strong communication skills and interest in helping create a key technology hub for Nexis Solutions.About the RoleThe Consulting Software Engineer role is a hands-on full-stack developer. This role will become a subject matter expert for the South African team and help influence its expansion in becoming an innovation technology hub for Nexis Solutions. In addition to writing code on complex systems and applications, this position actively participates in planning, discovery, and design.Responsibilities

Providing design input across a product
Acting as an acknowledged 'go to' person on coding and technical issues, for both internal and external contacts
Interfacing with other personnel or team members to finalize requirements
Completing complex bug fixes, and resolving technical issues
Designing and working with complex data models
Mentoring lead software developers interested in consultancy in development methodologies and optimization techniques

Requirements

Have a BS degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Be able to demonstrate excellent organizational skills when dealing with multiple priorities, able to delegate effectively.
Have substantial Software Development experience.
Languages and tools like the following: JavaScript, React or Angular, C# or Java, SQL, NoSQL, Linux, AWS
Expertise with various database systems, the development of micro-services, optimization, and industry best practices
Have an excellent understanding of data modelling principles, data manipulation languages and storage systems
Have experience in partnering with and leading internal and external technology resources to solve business needs

Successful track record with event-based systems using Kafka, SQS, or similarHistory of creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelinesAbility to identify technical improvements, pitch ideas to the team, and follow through with implementation.

Have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly to a wide audience.
