Freight Controller (Big Trucks) - BrackenfellFull job descriptionJob OverviewDate Posted: Posted 1 week agoLocation: Brackenfell, Western CapeJob Title: Freight Controller (Big Trucks)Education Level: High School / MatricJob Level: IntermediateMinimum Experience: 1 - 3 YearsFreight Controller (Big Trucks) – Brackenfell, Cape Town.A renowned Transportation, Logistics, and Refrigeration company is looking for a Freight Controller to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in Brackenfell, Cape Town.Very good compensation package on offer plus internal career advancements opportunities (subject to background and experience).The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating the freight plan to drivers, ensure they are aware of off- loading points, procedure for off-loading, amount and condition of products in freight.Key Performance Areas:Execute daily planning as received from Freight PlannersMonitor progress of vehicles on routeExecute administrative tasks associated with responsibilitiesIssue drivers with loading instructions as received from the plannersEnsure drivers are aware of location of the loading points & follow correct loading sequenceMonitor the loading progress of the drivers assigned to the individual controller & ensure all is done correctly & according to company policyEnsure that load weight does not exceed the permissible weight limits, that the load is properly secured, & that the vehicle is sealed in the right manner with the seal numbersrecorded on the paperwork.Monitor the on-route progress of the vehicles assigned to you & coordinate any non-conformance to the standard operating proceduresManage drivers sleeping points as well as approval for overnight loads & any special requests from the driver pertaining to personal affairs.Responsible for informing Freight Planners of deviation from instructionsContact the offloading point before arrival to inform about estimated arrival time of the vehicleUpon completion of the offloading procedure verify that correct number of pallets &product were offloaded at correct offloading point & in the right condition.Ensure that all paperwork & administrational tasks related to the load and or Operations, is completed in the correct manner & that the driver has all necessary documents with themDebrief driver on arrival at depot on all loads done since departure from depotCheck paperwork of driver’s loads & ensure all is done correctlyHand checked & correct paperwork to debtor’s department for invoicingDiscuss drivers on route behaviour with them, as well as any further personal issuesRequirements:Grade 12Computer SkillsOrganized / Good Communication Skills – English & AfrikaansRelevant working experience as a Freight Controller & in the Transport IndustryPersonal Attributes:Attention to detail & self-starterTeam player/strong inter-personal skillsAnalytical thinker & problem solverBe able to work well under pressureProduces high quality of work in required time framesWell organised, professional & well presentedPositive attitude, hardworking & honestApplying for the Position:Only open to South African Citizens.If you are interested in this great career opportunity, please send your CV.
