- Perform routine analytical techniques relate to the established Laboratory procedures.
- Responsibility to log received samples into the SLIMS using work orders from the client.
- Responsibility of analyzing all analytical samples using the correct procedures and/or methods.
- Responsibility to print sample labels.
- Responsibilities to ensure samples are sorted correctly before labeling and boxing the samples.
- Responsibility to report results within the time frame specified.
- Responsibility to follow all quality directives of this Department.
- Responsible for operation of laboratory instrumentation
- Responsibility to bring all problems (technical and managerial) to the attention of the Chemist.
- Responsibility to adhere to all quality, health and safety rules and regulations.
- Responsibility to ensure that the housekeeping in the receiving /working areas are in order.
- Complies and conforms to Laboratory Quality Management System (ISO17025).
- Must be able to help with the preparation of SANAS audits.
- Responsibility to record any day-to-day repairs, maintenance, calibration and verification of instruments.
- All analytical data and calculations shall be made traceable and stored in the relevant files for that purpose or LIMS.
- Responsibility to work in other areas and/or Divisions if asked to do so.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Follow Supervisors clear detailed instructions and demonstrate flexibility in executing duties.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
- BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Geology/or proven years of laboratory, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through – Recognition of Prior Learning.
- Grade 12 / Matric or N3 with Mathematics and Science as subjects.
- Exceptional Computer Literacy (use of MS Office suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
