Industrial Engineer - Port ElizabethFull job descriptionOverviewLead and support Continuous Improvement (CI) and Operational Excellence initiatives.ResponsibilitiesProcess alignmentDevelop and publish deadlines, targets and measures, and communicate departmental targets and outputsPlan, prioritise and review technical plans for the improvement of production and facility equipmentFacilitate meetings to analyse process input variables and interpret impact upon customers’ needsDevelop and update process documentation and training materials to support new or modified processesEvaluate, justify and qualify changes in existing processes or process equipmentReview production information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services.This includes, but is not limited to, production schedules, process flows and engineering specs.Project management and coordinationManage CI, site loss elimination and lean improvement projects to provide greater value, implementing relevant tools and processesProvide technical support to SCM, writing technical specificationsContinuous improvement (CI)Focus on measurable quality, service and cost improvementsWork with departments to develop training material pertaining to processes, raw materials, equipment operations and operator safetyElicit production and operational issues from operatorsTroubleshoot, diagnose and resolve equipment, manufacturing process and facilities issues Standardise/ modify existing manufacturing processes to increase robustness, reliability, and compliance and reduce production costs, lead times, inventories, downtime and wasteImplement and monitor corrective action and innovative action within set target datesDesign control systems to minimize and resolve production issues and project costsReportingPrepare technical reports for all work performedPresent process-related data and communicates issues related to projects for review and discussionSkills RequiredBackground/experienceAt least 3-5 years' relevant manufacturing experienceNational Diploma in Industrial Engineering or related disciplineAt least 1 years Project Management ExperienceAt least 2 years Lean Manufacturing Experience Specific job skills Computer literacyStrong mechanical and process skills and a good working knowledge of control, logic and operational principlesProblem solving and action planning skillsOral and written communication skillsUnderstanding of variable and period costsCompetenciesMeeting DeadlinesFinalising OutputsMaking DecisionsCustomer AwarenessInterrogating Information
