SUMMARY:
Data Engineer (AI/ML, Snowflake) - Remote - R800k to 1mil per annumPOSITION INFO:A dynamic company focused on smart solutions that give power and tech that integrates with all energy tariffs, so that drivers can charge at the cheapest and greenest times available seeks an Intermediate Data Scientist who will be accountable for designing scalable, high-performance data platforms for analytics, AI/ML pipelines, and batch/real-time processing.Responsibilities:
  • Expertise in data modelling strategies, governance, and security best practices to ensure efficient data flow.
  • Proficiency in Snowflake, PostgreSQL, or similar databases, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with vector databases and integrating vector embeddings.
  • Expertise in building and managing ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data ingestion and transformation.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, fine-tuning, and integrating AI models (e.g., transformers, embeddings) into data platforms.
  • Understanding of cloud services, particularly in data storage, compute, and AI/ML integrations.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years hands on experience
  • Familiarity with DBT or similar data transformation tools.
  • Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows.
  • Familiarity with DBT or similar data transformation tools.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
