Creative and Visionary Interior Designer Needed for Large Architectural and Design Firm based in SandtonOverview:Senior Interior Designer to join our Hospitality & Retail team in Johannesburg.A recognized leader who is responsible for envisioning, designing and delivering exceptional projects for clients. Possesses strong 3D design abilities and communication skills to brief the team on the design. Requires a flexible attitude, ability to solve problems creatively and to foster client relationships. Responsible for high-impact decisions. Coordinates with staff across the firm and industry to elevate the quality of work overall. Endorses the firms values by personally influencing client service, innovation and communication. Acts as subject matter expert for design solutions.Responsibilities:
  • Acts as lead designer on multiple projects developing conceptual design, presentations and implementation documents
  • Guides and directs multiple project teams to manage the development of design throughout design development and implementation documents
  • Establishes the vision and sets project goals in conjunction with the client and project team
  • Client presentations & attendance of external workshops, meetings, etc.
  • Strong planning ability in either AutoCad or Revit, but not limited to, in order to develop the design, taking on board clients brand standards
  • Leads design effort to develop and support client relationships
  • Develops creative design concepts for projects and expands on concepts of others
  • Develop and modify and/or review graphic presentations, 3D rendering and implementation documents to incorporate the design intent
  • Resolves complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions to maintain goals and objectives of projects
  • Oversees product research and directs project team with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections
  • Collaborates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
  • Mentorship & support of junior staff in development of their creative ability
Qualifications:
  • Accredited professional degree in Interior Design or related field
  • Typically 7 to 10+ years of experience
  • Experience with programs that will translate your design vision to the team, ie. Photoshop, SketchUp and InDesign graphic software preferred, but not limited to
  • Successful track record with collaborating in a team and performing duties in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle, through to post-occupancy
  • Knowledge of the appropriate use of building systems, materials and technologies
  • Knowledge of furniture, furnishings and equipment (FF&E) and to oversee and check that the correct products get specified
  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
