Location: Western CapeSalary: R600 000 - R750 000 Total Cost To Company (includes Medical and Pension)Additional Benefits: Housing and Farm Vehicle providedOur client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Production Manager to oversee operations on a large-scale farm in the Western Cape. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural management, with a focus on both pome, cherries and stone fruit production. As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for the overall management of farm operations, ensuring optimal productivity, quality control, and sustainable farming practices. You will also be responsible for the supervision and development of farm workers, implementing effective farming strategies, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all day-to-day operations of the farm, including planning, coordination, and execution of agricultural activities.
  • Oversee the cultivation and production of pome and stone fruit, ensuring optimal yield, quality, and sustainable farming practices.
  • Lead and manage a team of farm workers, including training, performance management, and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Develop and implement farming strategies to improve crop production, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Monitor and manage the farms resources, including soil health, irrigation systems, and farm equipment.
  • Prepare and manage the farms budget, ensuring cost-effective practices and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all agricultural regulations, including health and safety standards, environmental guidelines, and relevant certifications.
  • Report regularly to senior management on farm performance, challenges, and progress on key initiatives.

  • A BSc Agric degree or a relevant agricultural qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role on a farm, preferably as a Farm Manager or Production Manager.
  • Experience managing a farm of 100 hectares or more, with a focus on pome and stone fruit production.
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of farm workers.
  • Fluent in both English and Afrikaans, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of farm management practices, including budgeting, planning, and resource management.
  • A passion for sustainable farming practices and a commitment to continuous improvement.
