
LIFTING MACHINERY INSPECTOR

- Must be registered Lifting Machinery Inspector with Engineering Council (ECSA) with the following scopes: Lifting Tackle, Chain Block & Lever Hoists
- Valid driver’s License Code 08 to drive from site to site
- Pre-employment Medically Fit Certificate for working at heights and confined spaces
- Must be comfortable with heights and be able to lift heavy equipment
- Intermediate level in MS Office
- Trade Tested in mechanical/electrical/millwright
- Required to travel and work away from home
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Construction Regulations

- Experience in supervising teams
- 1-2 years working experience in the Renewable Energy sector as an LMI
- Additional scope in Overhead & Gantry Cranes
- Statutory Inspections, maintenance, Inspection, Repairs and Snagging
- Perform thorough inspection of Lifting Equipment in a timely manner
- Perform scheduled maintenance on Service Lift components including scope specific repairs
- Conduct statutory Inspections, maintenance, repairs and snagging according to the client’s requirements and within technical scope
- Perform load testing on mobile cranes and inspection thereof
- Work with Project Manager in coordinating and planning projects according to customer requirements
- Assist with purchasing tools, equipment and spare parts for projects
- Ensure required resources for the project are available
- Provide technical support to other teams and office staff
- Prepare accurate field inspection report documents in accordance with company report templates
- Provide updates on the project to the Project Manager and escalate delays and critical issues as prescribed
- Complete petty cash requests and recons, travel logs and submit to finance within the required time frames with supporting documentation
- Complete time sheets for all team members, obtain the required client approvals and submit to finance within the required time frames
- Ensure that the team complies to Client rules and regulations
- Assist with performance reviews of team members
- Monitor team’s quality of works and report any variances
- Updated with the latest Engineering developments and Regulations for Lifting Machinery within the LMI scope
- Update Engineering profile and CPD points annually
- Control the resource cost of any assigned project as per project budget
- Obey to the Health and safety, and environmental rules and policies and procedures of the both the company and the client
- Report unsafe or unhealth to conditions to immediate Supervisor
- Report any incident/accidents to SHEQ officer within the required timeframes
- Responsible to inspect PPE and report defects immediately to Line Manager and/ SHEQ officer
- Attend morning meetings with client, prepare work permits and conduct daily toolbox talks/safe alerts with teams and ensure that is signed off by team members and place on the Safety file
- Ensure all PPE requirements are met before commencing work
- Maintain Health and Safety File- Includes Registers/ checklist, appointments are signed
- Ensure RAMS are communicated with team members and signed before commencing the project
- Report any fault findings regarding Health and Safety
- Conduct on-site HIRA of projects and communicate to SHEQ officer
- Ensure fault findings on Internal and External audits are rectified before next audits
- Participate in Health and Safety Audits both internal and external
- Assist with drafting of Method Statements with the SHEQ Officer
- Assist with Health and Safety complains and escalate queries to the Head of SHE and SHEQ Officer- this will include problems with PPE, safety equipment and materials
- Ensure that site works conducted complies with the Health and Safety legislation (OHSA 85 of 1993 & Regulations) and other legal requirements
