- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying discipline
- 5-10 years working experience as a quantity surveyor
- Experience working in the electrical construction field preferred
- Consultancy experience is preferred
- Good Verbal & Written Communication
- Ability to strategize and solve problems
- Strong information technology background, including Excel & Microsoft Projects
- Knowledge of Electrical Products advantageous: MV & LV Cables, Overhead Line Hardware, Compilation of Kiosks, Mini Substations, Transformers, etc.
- Providing of technical procurement advice to Construction & Project Managers
- Handling of tender documentation & completion of BOQ’s
- Preparing, requesting, negotiating, and analysing costs for tenders and contracts
- Project Cost planning before, during & post tender process
- Coordination of work delegation within tender department
- Firm understanding and implementation of the Bill of Quantities
- Accurately build up new rates for items omitted from BOQ, incorrectly measured in BOQ and site instructions
- Advising on a range of legal and contractual issues
- Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour costs
- Checking measurements on site against the construction/electrical drawings to verify quantities
- Valuing completed work and compiling accurate monthly payment claims
- Adjusting payment claims & quotations to include relevant pricing changes (e.g. CPA)
- Measurements and confirmation of quotes against project requirements
- Attending Site meetings
- Costing of site instructions and amending subcontractor orders
