- Ensure health and safety functions required of the employer are carried out in terms of Section 3(1)(a) of the MHSA, including all mandatory Code of Practices, risk assessment programmes, occupational hygiene programmes and any other programmes required to ensure effective environmental, health and safety management
- Ensure that all applicable statutory requirements are met in terms of labour, environment, health and safety
- Update scheduling of production (monthly) according to the market demand
- Update budget and forecast scheduling of production (monthly) according to the market demand
- Set up and maintain processes to optimize productivity, throughput and availability
- Continuously adapt workforce to operational requirements to ensure optimum ROI
- Define major investment opportunities to improve productivity
- Ensure the sustainability of the mine operation by ensuring mining exploration continues to identify ore deposits, and prepared, adapt to product changes and requirements in the market
- Ensure, daily, the cost control of all operations comply with the approved cost
- Responsible to submit to the Board, annually, for approval: (i) implementation and management of an annual exploration and mining plan; (ii) capital and operational cost budget; (iii) staffing and training requirements; (iv) product production plans; (v) rehabilitation plans and as per the approved environmental management programme
- Ensure proper maintenance is carried out to minimize downtime and maximize the working efficiency of equipment and processes
- Co-ordinate the requirements for the annual shutdown
- Take part in the continuous improvement actions of the company in terms of quality, services and processes
- Ensure proper application of ISO procedures at the mine
- Assist with Negotiating all required contracts with suppliers to the mine e.g. mining, tailings- and waste management, security, etc.
- Deal with the Department of Minerals and Energy regarding all mining-related operational matters
- Execute and control all social responsibilities placed on the mine with regard to the approved Social and Labour Plan
- Recruit, train, mentor, discipline and motivate the workforce when appropriate
- Grade 12
- Diploma in Production/Operations Management or Mining Engineering
- 15 years of managerial experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Salary: R1.6Mil/yr - R1.8Mil/yr, salary negotiable
