A well-established organisation is looking for a Senior Data Operations Engineer to take the lead on transforming legacy systems and streamlining SQL-based data processes in a mission-critical environment.This role is ideal for a candidate who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for automation, process improvement, and operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesModernise and automate legacy SQL processes and data workflows to enhance scalability, maintainability, and performanceOwn and optimise SQL routines, stored procedures, and extract logic for both operational efficiency and business reportingServe as the primary Data Custodian for key business domains, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and secure accessImprove internal and external data extract processes to support business operations and partner requirementsDrive integration improvements between source systems and the data warehouse, with a focus on quality and long-term maintainabilitySupport the evolution of the organisation’s data warehouse architecture, including adoption of Microsoft Fabric and star schema design principlesIdentify inefficiencies and implement technical controls, process automation, and documentation for risk reductionAct as the escalation point for complex production data and SQL issuesCollaborate with analysts, developers, and business teams to resolve data quality issues at the sourceLead documentation and knowledge-sharing efforts to enable business continuity and team scalabilityRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong experience in SQL Server development and operationsDemonstrated success in automating data processes and modernising legacy systemsProven ability to manage data governance, access control, and reporting pipelinesComfort working in cross-functional teams and liaising with analysts, developers, and operationsStrong problem-solving mindset with an emphasis on continuous improvementCareer Growth OpportunitiesClear growth path to positions such as:Data Operations ManagerPlatform Engineering LeadHead of Data OperationsLeadership opportunity within a growing data functionThis is a fantastic opportunity to drive impactful data transformation initiatives in a company with deep sector experience and ambitious digital goals.
