Assistant Irrigation Technician

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field
• Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Excel, and willingness to learn and master the Agriwiz software platform are essential
• Must have strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules based on seasonal demands and project requirements will be required
• Must have a valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various work sites as needed

• Assisting the Citrus Consultant in conducting on-site assessments to evaluate soil moisture levels, crop water requirements, and nutrient status.
• Collaborating with the Consultant to develop and implement customized irrigation schedules and fertigation plans based on crop growth stages, weather forecasts, and soil conditions.
• Utilize the crop software platform to record and analyse data related to irrigation scheduling, fertigation applications, and crop performance.
• Monitoring irrigation systems, including pumps, valves, and controllers, to ensure proper operation and optimal water distribution.
• Collecting soil and plant tissue samples for analysis, interpreting results to adjust fertigation programs and nutrient applications as needed.
• Assisting in the calibration and maintenance of irrigation and fertigation equipment to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
• Conducting field observations to assess crop health, pest pressure, and disease incidence, reporting findings to the citrus consultant for further action.
• Participating in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and proficiency in irrigation scheduling techniques, fertigation practices, and the use of crop software.
• Collaborating with agricultural personnel and farm workers to communicate irrigation and fertigation schedules, ensuring proper implementation and compliance with best management practices.
• Maintaining accurate records of field activities, data collection, and recommendations provided, ensuring documentation is organized and readily accessible for reference.
