Transport Co-ordinator - Cape Townull job descriptionVACANCY: TRANSPORT CO-ORDINATORPURPOSE OF POSITIONTo co-ordinate the companies transport requirements, through consolidation and monitoring of volumes, costs, and service delivery.RESPONSIBILITIESEssential duties and responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following:1. Report to the Logistics Manager.2. Timeous and accurate consolidated bookings to transporters.3. Oversee timely delivery of goods.4. Maintain delivery schedules and track arrivals.5. Provide tracking information to customers/load points as well as internal staff.6. Being contactable 24 hours a day 7 days a week.7. Timeous collection of all shipping information, such as container and seal numbers.8. Fulfil the company’s transport strategy and commitments.9. Provide regular reports as required from time to time.10. Obtain ad hoc transport rates as and when required.11. Recommend most cost-effective methods of transportation.12. Assist finance and administration in the timeous solution of any queries.13. Maintain the required long-term relationships with Transport service providers.14. Handle customer complaints and investigate delivery issues.15. Management of temperature recorder stock levels for all Transport service providers.16. Pro-active communication to logistics co-ordinators and transport service providers.This includes, but not limited to the following:a. Forecast transport requirements for the next few weeks and advice transporters ofexpected volumes to be moved.b. Ensure that all SLA’s for each service provider is in place, up to date and signed.c. Joint problem solving with regards to service providers or clients.d. Pro-actively communicate any potential bottlenecks or transport risks.e. Ensure on regular basis that transport service provider’s GIT insurance is still in place.f. Obtain full knowledge and understanding of the client’s business, in order to proactivelycommunicate matters of importance to customers.17. Comply with laws and regulationsKEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED1.
