- Administer risk assessments before the inspection is done
- Monitor field auditors and samplers in terms of the efficiency of activities carried out.
- Check timesheets for Blu staff based on supervision of staff
- Compile field reports, photographs and details summarises for all inspections and upload to SharePoint.
- Liaise with site supervisor and arrange efficient allocation of staff that limits overtime and promotes safety
- Continuously upgrade the quality of services offered
- Establish, direct and review the system of application, recording, certification, filing, sample storage and field auditing
- Communicate with other sample preparation supervisor to achieve the required turnaround time for all submitted samples
- Assign duties [and assist when necessary] in the coordination of shipments and other fieldwork.
- Assign duties in coordinating and Compiling of Spreadsheets of results, updating daily and reporting to client.
- Assist in the efficient administrative running of the office as instructed by site supervisor
- Implementation of cost control measures mainly with respect to proper allocation of staff and PPE usage on field
- Liaise with warehouse and port personnel and arrange inspections
- To ensure compliance with all the requirements of the inspection order (mission order and risk assessment)
- Keep direct superior informed regarding progress and/or non-conformance. Implement needed corrective action.
- Assist in continuously upgrading the quality of services offered, in support of the "Customer Services" policy and minimise client complaints and claims
- General office duties
- Proper implementation of SIR promptly and other SGS platforms needed for inspections
- Attend to inspection operation of Mineral cargoes following International Standards and Company Q.A policies and mandate given by the principal
- To carry out and/or supervise all weighing operations if required by the mandate
- To ensure compliance with all the requirements of the inspection order
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager
- Train staff on site to achieve quality in inspection
- Ensure a Permit to work is completed for all new jobs, communicated with all staff on site, and provide a completed permit to work to the Branch Supervisor once job is completed.
- Provide H&S training and H&S awareness to all staff on site
- Inspect PPE and ensure all staff has correct PPE on site, where correct PPE is not available or PPE is damaged, follow SWA, and correct
- Ensure risk assessments are completed for all routine tasks, and the outcome of the risk assessments are communicated with all staff on site.
- Conduct check status (e.g. last-minute risk assessment) prior starting daily tasks, and ensure the staff on site also conduct check status.
- Report all unsafe acts and conditions onto Crystal module
- Report all incidents and near misses immediately to the Branch Supervisor
- Complete a Travel Management Plan for all planned trips.
- Coordinate and report on inspections timely
- Communicate with the client with accurate & honest findings from inspection
- Guide and assist junior staff and samplers on site
- Matric [minimum], preferably with Maths and Science.
- Post-matric qualification in sampling and inspection services
- Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)
- Any other languages an added advantage
- Typing Skills
- Computer literacy in Word and Excel
- Calculation capability — to ensure accurate scoring of client’s results
- Technical Report writing ability
- Tallying and data capturing
- More than 5years experience
- Timely reporting of inspections
- Little to no customer complaints
- Execution of inspections in line with MO & RAM
- Monitoring of staff time on site
