Mechanical and Structural Steel Designer

• Design of structures in accordance with SANS 10160 part 1 to 8 and SANS 10162, this will include Engineering certification of structures.
• Clear understanding of American Welding Standard D1.1 and A2.4:2020
• Ability to generate general arrangements (GA) of proposed structures using Solid works 2018, including FEA of structures.
• Creating standard products to optimize production efficiency
• Creating detailed drawings to be used for manufacturing of structures
• Designs to utilize optimum usage of structural steel
• Designs to incorporate optimum usage of hand and power tools
• Designs sheet metal cladding for side walls of E-house
• Knowledge of bending and punching of sheet metal
• Writing of detailed re-assembly methodology of steel structures to be used on site.
• Generating bill of materials for ordering and costing of structures.
• Creating original equipment manual (OEM) for E-House, Containerized substation and

• Grade 12
• N6 Mechanical Engineering qualification
• Project management experience will be advantages
• Drafting experience on design software (preferability solid works)
• Minimum 3-year Experience in structural design and detailing.
• Knowledge of AWS 1.1 welding standard.
• Understanding of the NDT testing and procedures.
• Basic understanding of electrical enclosures.
• Previous work experience on site (mining or petrochemical industry)

• A legal driver licences.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and making presentations.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• A sense of urgency with a strong customer service orientation.
• Hard working, resourceful, ambitious and have excellent business acumen.

• Predominantly office based with the occasional site visit
• Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should the need arise.

• Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.

• The prescribed Company Procedures must be complied with at all times.
• Perform any other reasonable duty delegated to you.
