CAREER OPPORTUNITYOur Client has a one year contract opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst. The role is embedded in the one of their core teams and supports the companies strategic initiatives across inwards and outwards value streams.ABOUT the projectThe Team is responsible for maintaining and evolving companies core contract management system, which governs all contracts, technical accounts, and processing. The system is central to Company operations:
Contract Lifecycle Management: Creating, modifying, and terminating contracts across inwards, outwards, and industry portfolios
Processing: Managing process from initial loading to final payment authorization, including suspense account handling and underwriting confirmation
Financial and Regulatory Reporting: Supporting actuarial pricing, reserve calculations, and compliance with internal audit and regulatory standards.
Data Integrity and Automation: Ensuring accurate ingestion of external files, maintaining party records, and automating internal covers for operational efficiency.
System Modernization: Preparing the platform for cloud migration, upgrading backend components, and aligning with Company Group cybersecurity standards.
In addition to its core responsibilities, the team also supports various peripheral products:
Quote: A quoting platform that facilitates deal structuring and pricing
JDE Integration: Seamless financial processing and reconciliation between their new system and JDE systems
Reporting Infrastructure: Currently supported via QlikView, with ongoing development of datamarts to enhance underwriting and finance operational reporting
Process Optimization: A number of Lean Six Sigma process improvements are scheduled to begin in September.
Cloud Migration: The backend systems are actively transitioning to cloud-based architecture to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Consult with business to identify problems and opportunities
Conceptualize solutions and develop business cases
Analyze and model business processes and data requirements
Validate that requirements and solutions meet strategic and project objectives
Elicit, document, and maintain business and functional requirements across multiple projects
Plan, structure and organize work to ensure successful, timely delivery and to preserve institutional knowledge
Participate in QA, UAT, demos, and training
Investigate production incidents and change requests
Collaborate with project management, change management, training, design, development, and testing teams AI, robotics), and Change Management.
Comply with company policies, standards, and methodologies
Stay current on industry trends in short-term insurance, reinsurance, and digital environments
Contribute to monthly reporting and statistics
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
IT Degree or related diploma, analysis or information/technology systems, e.g. B. Comm Informatics, B.Sc. Comp Sci. or B.Eng. or Act Sci major.
Project management qualification
Relevant Business analysis qualification
8 plus years’ experience as a Business Analyst in Financial Services servicing high volume transactional software.
Solid working knowledge of Sql (read, execute Sql coding)
Advanced Excel and Power Query experience
Extensive experience in Data analysis and visualization
Applied working knowledge of Large Language Models (CoPilot, etc.)
Advanced Excel, Power Queries and working SQL query experience.
Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) advantageous
Experience in agile environments (Scrum, product backlogs, user stories)
UML and BPMN experience are essential
Enterprise Architect and knowledge of case tools is essential
Experience with
Leading/mentoring a team of analysts in a competency
Writing project concepts and proposals, building business models and roadmaps, writing business requirements and user stories
Cost estimation, budget management, target setting, building business cases, defining benefits
Requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation, conducting demo’s and
communication with stakeholders both internal and external, in business or technical terms, and at different levels of the organization.
Building presentations, creating visual representation of requirements, architecture or designs, creating wireframes and prototypes, provide input to and working with solution architecture
Working with systems development lifecycle (SDLC), and agile methodologies in large complex projects incl. experience with agile scrum, scrum master role, sprint planning, managing product backlogs, writing user stories, running inception phases, agile reporting, etc.
Liaising and collaborating with project resources e.g. project managers, developers, other business analysts, test analysts and change managers at different levels of the organization and across multiple teams
Understanding test methodology and providing support and input to test strategy, test plans, test cases and scenarios, user acceptance testing, setting up test data and test environments, review test results.
Experience in the following areas will be advantageous
Short term insurance or financial services industry or short-term/property and casualty inwards reinsurance
Data analysis, defining data and analytics requirements and report writing
Customer journey mapping, user impact analysis or use of process modeling methodologies and tools
