SENIOR BUILDING DEPARTMENT COORDINATOR - CAPE TOWNFull job descriptionJob descriptionA well-established construction and site services firm in Cape Town is looking for the services of an appropriately qualified, dynamic and highly competent Coordinator/Manager for the Building Department. The incumbent will direct, lead and evaluate all Building and related trades jobs, including supervision of personnel.This position is based in Cape Town and the candidates applying must have artisanal background/certification and be available to fill the position immediately shortly.REQUIREMENTS:National N6 or National diploma in Building/Construction engineering.A minimum of six years post-trade test hands on experience in built environment related trade of which minimum two years should be in a supervisory/managerial role.Experience of the built environment and related trades (good generalist), e.g. carpentry, welding, electrical, tiling, drywalling, ceilings, brick work and plastering, painting, flooring, waterproofing, etc.Knowledgeable on materials, products and safe work practices.Knowledgeable and experienced in building maintenance.Knowledge of commercial and domestic building infra-structures.Knowledge of commercial white/grey boxing and shopfitting.Knowledge of roofing systems.Knowledge on SANS10 400 series of Building regulations.Knowledge of OHSA and safe work practices.Ability to perform assessments and compile reports and quotes.Ability to plan, coordinate, manage and lead the activities of subordinates.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.JOB OVERVIEWPlan and direct all building department jobs.Coordinate work between Building Department and other departments.Plan, supervise, assign and monitor work of building maintenance teams.Inspect and evaluate completed works by building maintenance teams.Ensure installations, work and repairs are performed in accordance with South African National Standards (SANS) standards and codes.Assist with the pricing of Building department jobs.Identify training needs for departmental staff to keep up with new developments and new products on the market.Establish and maintain safety procedures and techniques for Building department staff to perform their job duties.Oversee and managing operational costs of the department.Recruitment and training of staff.Evaluate performance and productivity of staff/technicians; take necessary corrective measures, as and when required.Ensuring superior customer service and quality workmanship.Monitor and improve administrative processes in the department.Engage with vendors, suppliers and sub-contractors.Act as custodian of the company’s building department equipment, plant, tools and vehicles.REMUNERATION:R20,000.00 - R24,000.00 CTC per month, depending on experience.Initial fixed term probation contract of 2 to 3 months.Company Cell phone.Company Car (during the day for business trips).Job Type: Full-timeSalary: R20 000,00 - R24 000,00 per monthAbility to commute/relocate:Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Application Question(s):Are you able to start immediate or at short notice?Education:Certificate (Required)License/Certification:Drivers License (Required)Application Deadline: 2024/04/19
