A leading steel industry company is seeking an experienced Import & Procurement Specialist to manage the full import lifecycle while driving supply chain efficiency and cost optimisation to join their team in Kliprivier, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in both local and international sourcing, be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to implement effective procurement strategies that align with business objectives.Responsibilities:Source steel products locally and internationally, ensuring competitive pricing and consistent quality.Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and collaboration on growth opportunities.Conduct market research to identify new sourcing options and product opportunities.Evaluate and negotiate with service providers to optimise costs while maintaining service and quality standards.Manage the end-to-end import process, including supplier negotiation, booking, shipping, customs clearance, and freight forwarding.Ensure full compliance with customs regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of import/export procedures.Maintain accurate landed costings for all goods, including freight, duties, storage, and clearing fees.Monitor global market trends, steel pricing, and tariffs to inform sourcing strategies.Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Logistics, Finance) to align procurement strategies with business needs.Prepare preliminary costings and provide clear feedback to stakeholders.Liaise with regulatory authorities (SARS, ITAC) to ensure compliance and identify duty relief opportunities.Requirements:Minimum 24 months' experience in import procurement and logistics, with experience in both local and international sourcing; knowledge of steel products is advantageous.Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.Strong negotiation, analytical, and organisational skills.Proficient in MS Office (Excel) and computer literate; experience with Microsoft D365 is an advantage.Knowledge of customs procedures, tariffs, and international markets.Results-driven, proactive, and able to work under pressure.Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and enthusiasm for continuous learning and industry trends.Benefits
