This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.WHAT SOUTH32 OFFER:Eligible employees will receive an employer contribution towards the company-elected retirement fund.South32 will support assistance for part-time studies aligned to role requirements and business needs at accredited institutions to eligible employees.ABOUT THE ROLE:This role is a permanent full-time position.As an Operator Mobile Equipment, you will be responsible for leading the category of energy-effecting commercial agreements that optimise the utilisation and cost across the portfolio at the African operations and support operational safety, cost and committed environmental targets.Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
  • Participate in investigations into workplace incidents;
  • Report any unsafe behavior, conditions and
  • incidents to the responsible person;
  • Conduct pre-use inspections, routine inspections and report defects;
  • Conduct risk assessment before all tasks and identify risks and hazards;
  • Operate mobile equipment based on operational requirements;
  • Keep mobile equipment clean and in a good condition all the time;
  • Operate various mobile equipment based on operational requirements.
ABOUT YOU:You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in operating mobile equipment in a mining environment.
Qualifications for this role are:
  • Grade 12 with mathematics;
  • A minimum of two valid equipment licenses on either CAT Hauler 770, 777 and CAT loader 992, 980;
  • Valid drivers license.
