Job DescriptionTo control and manage the production resources in such a manner to achieve maximum productivity aimed at satisfying the customers needs of customers, with particular reference to quality, reliability and delivery, whilst at all times looking to the interests of staff under his control. To ensure equipment is maintained and ensure minimum lost time.Job Responsibilities4.1 Control the following relating to the manufacturing process in those departments under his control.4.1.1 Product quality and process methods within the specifications laid down by the Department /Quality Control4.1.2 Volume of output to meet the requirements laid out in his/her production plan.4.1.3 Direct manufacturing expenses, in line with the mix and level of output.4.1.4 Employment of labour within the limits of the present strength budget, adjusted for variation in output.4.1.5 Safety of employees and equipment.4.2 To select and train suitable staff within the limits of the present budget, to carry out the functions outlined above.4.3 To supply the Sales Department with the information it requires and use the information provided by the department to monitor and control the overall efficiency of each department under direct control.4.4 To take prompt action where necessary to correct faults, highlighted by process control.4.5 To control the direct manufacturing cost in his/her department within the laid down budgets, and in line with output, with special attention to the following: -4.5.1 Material usage-minimization of scrap waste, both of raw materials and finished products4.5.2 Labour usage by effective control of labour force, productivity and overtime work.4.5.3 Consumable materials-by constant attention to application, waste alternatives, etc.4.5.4 Machine utilisation-by preventing undue idle time or time or downtime due to machine breakdowns; and in assisting the Planning Department in maintaining an affective production plan, regulated to suit the requirements of the Sales Department.4.6 To control the use of labour in his/her department, with specific reference to the following: -4.6.1 The promotion of goodwill among employees and the Company (in co-operation with the Mixing Superintendent to achieve a lower labour turnover and increased Productivity.4.6.2 To select new employees, in consultation with the Mixing Superintendent as may be required within the present budgets and to provide adequate introduction of such employees to the duties they are required to perform.4.6.3 To provide adequate Training of employees at all levels to promote the development of employees and increased productivity.4.6.4 To provide adequate discipline of employees within the confines of the disciplinary code.4.7. To control the use, movement and storage of goods and materials within the manufacturing process, with the following aims: -4.7.1 Prevention of fire in cases where inflammable products are being used.4.7.2 Prevention of loss by accidental damage, theft or storm damage.4.8 To supervise annual and month-end stocktaking procedures, as required4.9 To participate together with the Technical Department in the development of existing and new products and to carry out such testing and production trials as may be required.4.10 To initiate, and/or participate with the Technical Manager in the development of new and improved methods and techniques and to carry out any trials which may be required.Qualification:· Matric/NQF Level 3· Diploma in Production Management· Diploma/Degree Rubber /Polymer Technology· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) applications is essentialMinimum Requirement· Minimum of 5 Years Experience in the FMCG Industry/Rubber Industry· Excellent planning and organising skills required· Excellent communication and writing skills
