NPosition Type Non-ManagementPOSITION SUMMARY The South Africa National Sales Group Desk Coordinator will report to the Director of Sales of the South Africa National Sales Team.The South Africa National Sales Team Group Desk Coordinator provides dedicated administrative support to the Director of South Africa National Sales Team and the South Africa National Sales Team Account Coordinators, primarily to assist in higher group conversion and additional revenue stream from non-funding hotels. SCOPEThe South Africa National Sales Team Group Desk Coordinator provides support to the SANST.Location requirements: The SANST Group Desk Coordinator is to be located in either Jhb or Cpt offices.Travel Requirements: There is occasional (5 %) business travelLanguage Requirements: Fluent in English (speaking, reading and writing) required. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS Sales Support: Processes all applicable group inquiries to the hotels and ensures alternatives are offered in order to close business (primary for all funding hotels in South Africa but also for other Marriott hotels worldwide)Handles all group requests that come through to the Group Desk directly from clients.Facilitates SFA Web enquiries to drive referral fee revenue stream for SANST from clients and Account Coordinators alikeAssists in driving group campaigns and projectsProvides group administrative support to the SANST in Wholesale Group Series communication to hotels as well as collating rate addendums/contracts timeouslyActs as ‘online support’ between SANST and hotels to ensure all parties are fully informedIs fully conversant with the technical equipment provided and to follow all procedures. This includes– but is not limited to – SFA WebPrepares and analyzes reports and statistics on groupsAccompanies the Account Coordinators on client account calls from time to timeAssists in signing up clients to Bonvoy EventsFinancial Support: Handles the collection and reporting process of the Group Booking Referral CostOwner Relations: Supports primarily the SANST in its duties to the funding hotelsDevelops and maintains good relationships to both internal and external customers by providing a friendly and efficient service, meeting and exceeding the expectations of the SANST clientsParticipates in SANST meetingsIs knowledgeable of the hotels in the region, their facilities and competition (with a focus on funding SANST hotels)Is fully conversant with all Marriott brands and productsTakes ownership of Marriott’s Sales Organization’s Mission, Marriott’s Loyalty Basics and the Marriott’s Sales BasicsKeeps up to date with all legislation changes and trends within the Agency and Corporate marketPerforms other duties as assigned to meet business needs as well as to ensure teamwork CANDIDATE PROFILE - KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE DESIREDREQUIRED: At least 2 years experience in Sales within a hospitality environment on property.Fully proficient in SFA WebOpera Experience linked to Group DataUnderstanding of Group Wholesale Series SegmentMS OfficePREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Professional appearance and mannerDemonstrate self-confidence, energy and enthusiasmWork ethic requires urgency and efficiencyUse good judgment and diplomacy with internal and external customersUnderstanding of the travel industry marketKnowledge of overall hotel operations, reservations and group salesStrong organization skillsTechnical understanding of the cooperation’s travel requirementsUnderstands revenue management functions and account profitabilityAbility to develop and maintain relationships e.g., associates and customersUnderstanding and achievement of team and individual goalsGood conflict management skillsGood decision making skillsAbility to work independentlyFluent in English written and spokenProficiency in computer skills (MS Office; SFA Web)EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION: Hotel apprenticeship or tertiary qualification in hospitality management, business management or a related field requiredTwo years in the hospitality industry and group sales / reservation process desirable Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer.
