- Degree/diploma in Fashion, Merchandising, Business, or related field
- 3-5 years’ apparel merchandising experience.
- Demonstrated track record of driving sales growth and margin improvement within fashion/apparel retail.
- Knowledge of apparel production processes, fabrications, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in merchandising systems, Excel, and reporting tools
- Product Research & Analysis
- Conduct trend forecasting and interpret trends for the South African market.
- Undertake regular competitive shopping and competitor analysis to align with brand positioning.
- Conduct product performance analysis on best- and worst-sellers during and post-season.
- Range Development
- Prepare briefs including design, spec input, and comprehensive CAD/tech pack development.
- Resolve factory queries and provide support during the development process.
- Approve fabrics, lab dips, trims, embellishments, and provide sample comments.
- Conduct fittings with QA, providing analytical feedback and styling comments.
- Product Administration
- Maintain an organized library of samples, swatches, and approvals.
- Keep accurate filing records and update spreadsheets/CAD summaries.
- Compile and update production summaries and seasonal catalogues.
- Manage inventory of original overseas samples, ensuring proper storage and photographic records.
- Supplier & Factory Liaison
- Complete CAD tech packs and issue to factories (from sample requests to confirmed orders).
- Communicate with suppliers to resolve development queries and enforce sample/approval deadlines.
- Follow up on fits, pre-production samples (PPS), and approvals to ensure timelines are met.
- Cross-Functional Support
- Support franchise stores with product-related queries.
- Assist with men’s and boys’ wear range development during peak seasons.
- Sort, manage, and distribute salesmen samples for representatives
