-POSITION INFO:On behalf of our client, a leading company in the and export sector, we are seeking a skilled Commercial Accountant to join their dynamic team in Stellenbosch. Established in 2015 as part of a group with 30 years of trading experience, our client specialises in sourcing, processing, and marketing nuts globally, delivering value through exceptional service, market expertise, and innovative risk management.Role Overview
Reporting to the General Manager and Group Financial Manager, the Trade Accountant will oversee the financial management of all trade-related transactions, from procurement and processing to export and final settlement. This role requires meticulous record-keeping, cost analysis, and collaboration with financial and operational teams to ensure accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities
Financial ControlMaintain and reconcile records for all trade-related transactions.Monitor cost of sales, including farmer payments, packaging, and expenses.Manage inventory movements and valuations.Prepare profit and loss statements per shipment, client, and product.Procurement & Farmer PaymentsProcess farmer contracts and invoices.Monitor delivery volumes, quality, and price adjustments.Ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers.Export & LogisticsRecord export sales, currency fluctuations, and shipping costs.Reconcile farmer contracts with Forward Exchange Contracts (FECs).Align export documentation with financial records.Collaborate with logistics and operational teams for accurate financial processing.Reporting & AnalysisPrepare monthly margin reports and variance analyses.Support budgeting and forecasting processes.Prepare for audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Systems & Process ImprovementMaintain and optimise ERP systems.Develop and document internal controls and procedures.Qualifications and ExperienceBCom in Accounting, , or a related field.Accounting qualification with completed SAICA/CIMA articles.Honours degree (advantageous).Minimum 3-5 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably in agriculture or export sectors.Strong knowledge of cost and inventory accounting, as well as currency transactions.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Knowledge of export regulations (advantageous).Key SkillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated.Why Join Our Client?Join a forward-thinking company with a strong presence in the global agriculture market.Contribute to a team dedicated to innovation, service excellence, and industry leadership.Opportunity for professional growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
