
Payroll Administrator

- Run full in-house payroll for a workforce of 1000+ employees
- Ensure everyone's paid on time and payslips go out without a hitch
- Validate final payouts for resignations and dismissals
- Check variances, process controls, and ensure everything adds up before final runs
- Mentor and support Employee Services Clerks for knowledge sharing and consistency
- Manage site payroll queries (2nd line) and help solve snags quickly
- Drive month-end processes: reporting, reconciliations, and costing
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and clear reconciling items timeously
- Recommend and test new processes, system updates, and compliance changes
- Be a proactive voice in payroll-related projects and support the broader Shared Services function
- A relevant Payroll or Finance qualification
- Minimum 8 years' payroll experience, ideally in a high-volume environment
- Experience working with payrolls of 1000+ employees
- Good understanding of HR and personnel admin processes
- Hands-on experience with JDE or Educos (advantageous)
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Up-to-date understanding of BCEA, UIF, SDL and PAYE legislation
- Enjoy balancing precision with people support
- Love a smooth, structured payroll process
- Are proactive about improving systems and solving challenges
- Can work independently while still being a great team player
- Have an eye for reporting detail and the ability to guide others
