Construction Equipment Mechanic - Somerset WestFull job descriptionCSV Construction (Pty) Ltd is a leading diversified Civil Engineering Company with a track record of over 29 years of delivering quality works to clients in Civil and Concrete Works, Renewable Energy and Building Projects.We are passionate about what we do, our numerous industry awards attest to our performance excellence, we enjoy challenges, and we actively seek out ways to do things better, devising and deploying new, innovative engineering solutions whilst working as a team to accomplish great outcomes.CSV is currently seeking to add an experienced Construction Equipment Mechanic to its team of professionals.Construction Equipment MechanicJob Summary:The Construction Equipment Mechanic repairs and maintains construction plant (Excavators, TLB's, LDV's, Crushers and Containers) and mechanical equipment (trucks, trailers, batch plants, bulldozers, engines, motors pumps and associated equipment).Duties/Responsibilities:Troubleshoot problems, making economical and durable repairsDismantling equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand toolsMaintaining and repairing heavy equipment (including excavators, TLB's, LDV's, crushers and containers), trucks and non-mobile equipment on a Company-wide basisServicing vehicles / equipment to include oil changes, greasing, adding fluids, changing filters and maintaining preventative maintenance schedulesTroubleshooting and repairing electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions etc.Repairing and or replacing defective partsStarting devices and equipment to test their performance before and after repairsMust have knowledge and be proficient in operating and using stick / wire feed welderOperates and maintains field service LDVAdditional Requirements:Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsAble to carry out detailed written and or verbal instructionsMust be a team player and have the ability to work well with others within a group or one-on-one settingMust be willing to work outside the metro and travel to outlying construction sites - this may include Sites outside of the Western CapeMust have a valid drivers licenceMust be medically fit - will undergo medicals as required for ConstructionMay be subject to drug testing (if required)Must have a clear Criminal Check / Police ClearancePreference will be given to individuals already based in the Western CapeKey Competencies:Teamwork - contributes to building a positive team spiritJudgment - exhibits sound and accurate judgmentPlanning / Organising - uses time efficientlyProfessionalism - approaches others tactfully, reacts well under pressure, accepts responsibility for own actionsInterpersonal Skills - focuses on resolving conflict, keeps emotions under control, is able to remain open to the ideas of others, is able to maintain confidentialitySafety and Security - observes safety and security procedures, determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reports potentially unsafe conditions, uses materials and equipment correctlyAdaptability - is able to adapt to changes in with the work environment; is able to change approach or method to best suit the situation; is able to deal with frequent change, delays and or unexpected eventsAttendance and Punctuality - is consistently at work and on timeDependability - follows instructions; is able to commit to long working hours when neededInnovation - generates suggestions for improving workQuality - demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, looks for ways to improve and promote qualityEducation and Experience:Minimum of Grade 12 with Trade Test and 5 years relevant construction artisan experienceTo apply for this position, please send a detailed Curriculum Vitae via the email link or via recruitment@csvconstruction.com.Please note that all placements will be made in accordance to the Company Employment Equity Policies and Practices.Given the volume of CV’s expected, should you not receive a call within 2 weeks of application, please consider your application unsuccessful.Closing Date: 15 March 2024Job Types: Full-time, PermanentAbility to commute/relocate:Somerset West, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Education:High School (matric) (Required)Experience:Construction Equipment Mechanic: 5 years (Required)License/Certification:Drivers Licence (Required)Trade Test Certification (Required)Application Deadline: 2024/03/15
