Rockwell South Africa is currently seeking the services of a highly competent Engineering Team Lead to join our Randburg office. The incumbent will be responsible for managing a team responsible for successfully planning, controlling, and managing engineering deliverables to ensure that customer needs are met predominantly in the automotive space. Responsibilities:Analyzes customer's requirements to determine the optimal control system solution and determines applicable hardware and software control configuration/architecturePerforms conceptual hardware systems design, determination of control system strategy to meet customers’ requirements while complying with industry codes/standards and assure that personnel/machinery safety practices are implementedOversee integration of 3rd party hardware and control systemsWrite technical specifications and project reports as requiredVisit 3rd party suppliers and/or panel shops to assess progress, provide technical assistance and carry out inspectionsCarry out internal and customer system testingProvide on-site control system start-up as required.May participate in development of business team strategic plan.Performs all aspects of delivery/technical functions for customer projects, including some commercial responsibility.Responsible for assigning resources for execution of projects working with PM to maintain targets.May apply complex and advanced technical techniques.Responsible for process improvement activities within assigned business scope.Responsible for coaching and development of direct reports.Typically manages 5 -10 professionals and coordinates activities with support teams and other capabilities.Anticipates the need for change and supports and promotes company-wide programs, strategies, and initiatives.Leads efforts of project personnel on complex projects.Coaches and helps develop less-experienced engineers assigned to projects.May lead internal project process improvement efforts.Responsible for resource planning, assigns engineers to projectsWorks with direct reports to address training needs.Creates an environment conducive to successful team interaction.Supports an environment conducive to customer satisfaction.Responsible for resource scheduling to meet project plan requirements.Negotiates change orders with customers.Serves as the primary interface with customer, sales, and other Rockwell Automation entities for assigned projects.Must have excellent negotiation skills.Supports regional and global business managers in strategic and tactical initiatives.Supports regional and global business manager in pre-sales support of strategic customers globally.Supports regional and global business manager in post-sales support of strategic customers globally.Responsible for the plan, budget, structure, schedule and staffing for projects which are of significant and strategic importance to the customer and corporation.Builds partnerships at the business management level of key customers.Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies, and procedures as appropriate for this position.Must have excellent negotiation skills. Minimum RequirementsBSC Engineering discipline or equivalent knowledgeLegal authorization to work in South Africa requiredMinimum 8-10 years’ experience in systems, software, process automation or application engineering capacity.Minimum of 2 years of leadership experienceAutomotive control and/or information experienceFurther education in engineering, software, or business administration.Extensive experience with direct customer contact.Must be able to work in a stressful environment where constructive feedback from others is encouragedExcellent conflict resolution skills.Available and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet business commitments.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must have excellent conflict resolution and people interface skills.Must be able and willing to travel.
