Experience as Chief Safety Officer will be an added advantage. Risk management techniques and critical controls, experience in internal auditing, experience in developing, implementing, managing and auditing Risk Control initiatives and programs.Experience in leading and facilitating baseline, issue-based, job-task, pre-job, and personal risk assessments.Job SummaryDriving the Safety Management system and Risk Management process continuously in sections.Drive the safety within the plant through safety inspections, guide investigations and participation.Advice and guide, line management on safety improvements and trends.Plan, lead and execute the safety objectives of the plant in line with the group strategy.Update safety systems and overseer rolling out of same.Supervise the safety officer and the safety representatives.Implementing ORMP (Operational Risk Management Process) and LFI (Learning from Incidents) in sectionsMain Responsibilities / TasksExecute the legal function of CSO for the mine/plant.Participation in in-the field safety coaching and ensuring that middle managers drive the safety Management system.Ensuring that baseline, issue-based risk assessments are done MCOP’S are in place and correct, PTO’s done and audited.Ensuring investigations are up to date and of good quality and SHE officer legal inspections are up to date and on standard.Coaching Safety officer and safety representatives to perform quality inspections.Ensuring that weekly & monthly reporting is accurate and timeous reporting to management.Lead & participate in site safety inspections.Co-ordinate and participate in safety audits for the operation.Co-ordinate and participate in risk assessments for the operation.Compile annual safety improvement plan ensuring plans are in place for the operation.Tracking quantitative KPI’s to measure safety risk, trends and control effectivenessAssisting and guiding contractor during the tender phase as well as the on mine on boarding phase.Adhere to external local compliance requirements as a minimum level of site performanceImplement a purpose driven, high performing culture that is aligned with the values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement and foster continuous improvement to work processes.QualificationsNational Diploma in Safety Management plus competency requirements as per the Mine, Health and Safety Act (where applicable)COMSOC 1, 2, 3 or SAMTRACNational Driver’s LicenseValid medical certificate - To be obtained prior to appointmentISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 audit trainingA2 and A3 Risk Management TrainingDiploma in Project Management or studying towardsLocation: Polokwane, LimpopoCompany Description:International Smelting GroupJob Type: Full-timeSalary: R950 000 - R1 000 000 per year
