- Relevant Degree / Tertiary qualification in: Journalism or Communications (or equivalent)
- 1+ years experience within a similar/relevant professional working environment
- Valid driver's licence
- Strong language skills, and proven proofreading, sub-editing, headline writing skills
- A "nose for news"
- Competent in using electronic editing and digital publishing tools, as well as analytics tools
- Use SEO strategies and analytics tools to optimise content and identify new opportunities
- Good understanding of social media best practice
- Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Sound editorial judgment
- Solid understanding of online video consumption and audience, as well as an understanding of local and international web video trends and best practices.
- Be self-motivated with an ability to work within a team;
- Must have strong video editing and shooting abilities
- The primary responsibility will be the optimisation of stories on the company website
- Aggregating and writing original content for the website which may also then be repurposed for the print product
- Updating social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) including live tweeting
- Keeping the website updated with new, accurate, relevant and engaging content
- Ensuring that traffic and audience targets are consistently met
- Assisting in finding new ways to grow site audience and engagement
- Producing multimedia including video and podcast that are in line with our editorial policy and digital first strategy which has a strong focus on multimedia storytelling. Skills, Attributes and Attitudes
