Online & Social Media Manager (Senior Web Producer)

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Relevant Degree / Tertiary qualification in: Journalism or Communications (or equivalent)
• 1+ years experience within a similar/relevant professional working environment
• Valid driver's licence

• Strong language skills, and proven proofreading, sub-editing, headline writing skills
• A "nose for news"
• Competent in using electronic editing and digital publishing tools, as well as analytics tools
• Use SEO strategies and analytics tools to optimise content and identify new opportunities
• Good understanding of social media best practice
• Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
• Sound editorial judgment
• Solid understanding of online video consumption and audience, as well as an understanding of local and international web video trends and best practices.
• Be self-motivated with an ability to work within a team;
• Must have strong video editing and shooting abilities

• The primary responsibility will be the optimisation of stories on the company website
• Aggregating and writing original content for the website which may also then be repurposed for the print product
• Updating social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) including live tweeting
• Keeping the website updated with new, accurate, relevant and engaging content
• Ensuring that traffic and audience targets are consistently met
• Assisting in finding new ways to grow site audience and engagement
• Producing multimedia including video and podcast that are in line with our editorial policy and digital first strategy which has a strong focus on multimedia storytelling. Skills, Attributes and Attitudes
