Project Engineer - Piping - GautengJob SummaryAn exciting opportunity exists for a Project Engineer - Piping based in Johannesburg. Role Purpose: Ensure that engineering activities on assigned projects are executed and approved within schedules in compliance with project procedures, standards and specifications and in accordance with company procedures and the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of South Africa.Job Duties: Participate in EPCM/EPC execution projects, studies (from concept to detail) and tenders, and ensuring work standards are met.Responsible for the hands-on engineering and approval of rotating equipment and packaged units on assigned projects.Responsible for preparation and approval of project related standards and job notes.Review and approve flowsheets for correctness, all operating and design conditions and piping and instrumentation connections.Develop equipment specifications to meet the client’s standards, international and South African standards and regulatory requirements.Prepare technical bid analysis and evaluation reports.Review and approve supplier documents mechanical and piping specifications.Responsible for overall technical management/co-ordination on supplier orders.Give guidance to client, project team members, other specialist engineers and inspectors on equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units engineering matters. Coordinate review of all other engineering aspects of package unit supplier’s drawings.Experience with key mechanical software, such as hydraulic analysis packages (e.g. PipeFlo, Bentley Hammer) is an advantageMinimum Rerquirements: BEng, BSc, MEng, or MSc in Mechanical Engineering and 5 to 10 years’ experience with a minimum of 3 years in the mineral industry.Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA (an advantage)Familiar with commonly used mechanical engineering standards and codes including but not limited to API, NFPA, ASME, GPS.Extreme Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word).Working knowledge of mechanical software packages is expected – e.g. CAD, 3D & 4D modelling, FEA, Solid Edge etc.Prior experience in the metallurgical industry, with some additional experience in chemical industry would be a bonus.Knowledge of mechanical engineering guidelines and standards.Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams to achieve project results within required timeframes.Excited to learn more?
