  • Teach Organic Chemistry at undergraduate level.
  • Teach Polymer Chemistry at Honours level.
  • Provide study guidance to postgraduate students.
  • Initiate and conduct research and produce quality research outputs.
  • Attract external sources of research funding.
  • Provide academic assistance with curriculum and course design.
  • Perform general administrative duties.
  • Participate in community service projects.
Inherent Job requirements:
Lecturer
  • A PhD on NQF Level 10 in Organic/Polymer Chemistry or related discipline (for a permanent appointment)
or
  • Master's degree on NQF Level 9 in Organic/Polymer Chemistry or related discipline (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Organic/Polymer Chemistry or related discipline MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position).
  • Experience in teaching/lecturing Chemistry at University level.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
  • Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
  • A good academic record.
Recommendations:
  • Proven record of study guidance to postgraduate students.
  • Willing to attend professional development activities.
  • Proven experience in the use of Blackboard and Peoplesoft.
