- The South African Sugarcane Research Institute (SASRI) is a world-renowned agricultural research institute conducting research for the sugar industry. There are a number of different research projects that take place at SASRI which are clustered into four multidisciplinary programs, namely, Variety Improvement, Crop Protection, Crop Performance & Management and System Design and Optimization. SASRI is currently looking for a Post-Graduate and/or Graduate in the field of Agriculture, Plant Breeding, Genetics and Agronomy for 2024. The successful candidate will be working with a team of scientists from plant breeding and digital agriculture.
- This program specifically targets South African candidates who have completed a Postgraduate and/or an Honors Degree in Agriculture/Agronomy/Plant Breeding/Genetics
- Knowledge of digital agriculture technologies is advantageous (multi- and hyperspectral sensing using UAVs & ground-based sensors)
- Experience with statistical packages (e.g., SAS / Genstat / RStudio) is required
