As a Commissioning Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of BESS projects in Freedom WON. Your role will involve working closely with project managers, design teams, and field technicians to ensure the successful integration and functionality of BESS systems. You will be an integral part of the project team, contributing to the deployment of renewable energy solutions and supporting South Africa's transition to a sustainable energy future.Reporting to the Lead Commissioning EngineerKey Responsibilities:Testing, Troubleshooting, and RepairingOversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) components, including batteries, inverters, control systems, and associated electrical equipment.Perform functional tests and simulations to ensure proper operation of BESS systems, including system integration, communication protocols, and emergency shutdown procedures.Provide technical expertise and guidance to field technicians during the installation and commissioning phases.Collaborate with stakeholders, including utility companies, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with industry standards and grid interconnection requirements.Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to BESS commissioning, and provide recommendations for process improvements.AdministrationCreate comprehensive commissioning reports, including documentation of test procedures, results, and recommendations for system optimization.Identify and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the commissioning process, working collaboratively with field technicians and engineering teams to resolve them.Conduct on-site inspections and assessments to verify compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Coordinate with project managers and design teams to develop commissioning plans and schedules for BESS projects.ReportingRegular report updates to manager.Essential Requirements

Grade 12
NQF Level 8 Honours/ 4 Year Degree/ Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
5 years' supervisory working experience.
Working knowledge of SAP; OHS Act; ISO Standards; Electrical Market/Industry
Advanced knowledge in Electrical Design and Project Management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Exceptional attention to detail while multi-tasking.
Microsoft Office packages.
