Communications Coordinator: Fixed Term Contract: Tourism Sector - Hybrid, Cape TownPreviously disadvantaged candidates will be given preference.We have an exciting, fixed-term contract opportunity for an experienced Mid-Senior Communications Coordinator in the local Tourism sector for this Cape Town based hybrid role.As Communications Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of the company's tourism brands. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective messaging across various channels and across all target audiences. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills and a keen eye for detail.The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills and expertise in brand building across various channels such as PR and social media campaigns. Proficiency in marketing, particularly in brand development and corporate communication, is important. Employer branding communication experience is a bonus.We're looking for an accomplished candidate with solid corporate experience which includes strategy, campaign ideation and roll out, communication to various stakeholders. You must be skilled at engaging with their diverse audiences that include members, internal staff, government, stakeholders, and socials - this is a non-negotiable requirement.There isn't an emphasis on 'media' engagement in this position, the main focus lies on your experience in, and ability to, communicate with a variety of different external stakeholders.   • Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans to promote to target audiences
  • Collaborate with all areas within the company to align communication strategies with overall communications goals.
Content Creation
  • Creation of compelling and engaging corporate content for various platforms, including press releases, and corporate social media.
Digital & Social Media Management
  • Manage and monitor the company's corporate social media accounts, ensuring plan execution
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and leverage emerging digital platforms for communication purposes.
Event Coordination
  • Plan and execute communication strategies for events and promotional activities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of messaging during events.
Internal Communications
  • Foster effective communication within the organisation, ensuring that all team members are informed and aligned with key messaging.
Media Relations
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media
  • Coordinate media interviews and media events
  • Manage the day-to-day support of the appointed PR agency.
Measurement & Analysis
  • Utilise analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of communications strategies
  • Provide quarterly reports and insights to evaluate the impact of communication and media efforts.
RequirementsThe successful candidate must have/be:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field
  • Minimum of 7+ years in Communications
  • Previous corporate experience, which includes strategy, campaign ideation and roll out, communication to various stakeholders including members, internal staff (ideally from an employee branding point of view ), government, and media - this is non-negotiable
  • Proven experience in media relations, content creation and social media management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
